Cocoon The gloomy mist of winter’s cloak surrounds A silent, solitary chrysalis At rest upon a broken branch of brown, As early morning’s melancholic kiss, With aid of dark’s still present grip, subdues Profound excogitation of a life Without constriction from the pupa’s ruse, The gleam of yellow to the east is rife With happiness and hope, while insecure Thoughts dissipate, revealing colors true, And blooming from the chrysalid are pure Roy’l purple wings that reach for skies of blue, From morning mist's ambivalence, the light Sets free a brilliant butterfly for flight. Cocoon in Sonnet on 3/29/06
